Meet Christy Rost

Public Television Chef Christy Rost is the author of three cookbooks, a television and radio personality, entertaining guru, lifestyle authority, cooking teacher, home restoration expert, Registered Nurse, a popular guest chef and presenter for food and wine festivals, home shows, women's expos, retailers, and charities, and is passionately dedicated to the celebration of Home and Family.

Formerly the host of her own long-running Texas cooking and lifestyle television series, Just Like Home, Christy's expertise in celebrating home and family has been featured nationwide each November 2009 through 2015 on PBS and CREATE TV stations with her one-hour Holiday production for American Public Television, A Home for Christy Rost: Thanksgiving, centered around her stunning 1898 historic mountain home, "Swan's Nest" in Breckenridge, Colorado. This highly-acclaimed show, broadcast annually to 91% of U.S. households, is a testament to Christy's passion for family, friends, home, gardening, historic preservation, decorating, food, wine, and celebrating each day around the table with her signature style of casual elegance.

Christy has been interviewed by and Martha Stewart Radio, and is a frequent guest on WGN-TV in Chicago, FOX-4 in Dallas, and KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh for her expertise in cooking, entertaining, and quick, but tantalizing mealtime solutions, and was a popular guest chef and entertaining expert for several years on FamilyNet television's At Home-Live!, which reached almost 40 million households. Christy's latest book, Celebrating Home: A Handbook For Gracious Living (Bright Sky Press) was published in September 2012. The book is a beautiful blend of delectable recipes inspired by Christy's time in Texas and Colorado, home decorating how-to's, entertaining tips, and more than 100 gorgeous, full-color photographs by award-winning photographer Rick Souders, set in the intimacy of Christy's 19th century mountain home. Focusing on the joys of nesting and at-home gatherings, Celebrating Home encompasses every aspect of great entertaining for family and close friends - flavorful recipes, seasonal table settings, party vignettes, warm interiors, helpful serving suggestions, and fresh floral arrangements.

Christy's first cookbook, The Family Table: Where Great Food, Friends, and Family Gather Together (Capital Books, Inc.) was published in 2004 and was released in a paperback edition in September 2005. The Family Table is designed to inspire families, friends, and neighbors to gather around the table to celebrate daily life and special occasions. Her book contains 250 original recipes, extensive wine notes and wine suggestions, and entertaining tips. The foreword was written by Master Chef and award-winning PBS host, Martin Yan of Yan Can Cook.

Christy's second cookbook, Where's My Spatula? Fast, Healthy Meals When Your Kitchen or Your Life Is A Mess (Capital Books, Inc.) was published in 2008. Christy knows first-hand how messy life can be. She developed the recipes and wrote this book while restoring her 1898 historic home in Colorado. In Where's My Spatula? Christy provides quick, easy recipes and solutions for getting delicious, nutritious meals on the table day after day.
