|---|---|
| 2 ½ | cups flour |
| 1 | teaspoon baking soda |
| ½ | teaspoon baking powder |
| ¾ | teaspoon salt |
| ½ | cup unsalted butter, softened |
| ½ | cup butter flavor shortening |
| 1 ¼ | cups packed brown sugar |
| 1 | cup granulated sugar |
| 2 | eggs |
| 1 ½ | teaspoons vanilla |
| 1 ½ | cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks |
| 2/3 | cup Macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped |
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
In large bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter, shortening, and sugars until light. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until thoroughly combined.
Using a large spoon, gradually stir the flour mixture into the creamed mixture to form a soft dough. Stir in the chocolate chunks and the Macadamia nuts. Drop well-rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto lightly greased cookie sheets, leaving 4 inches between each cookie.
Bake in a preheated oven 11 to 13 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown. Remove from the oven, cool 1 minute, and transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool.
Recipe makes 3 dozen 4-inch cookies.
